I give most lessons at the golf driving ranges in Somers and Bolton(and sometimes at some other ranges in the area shown on the map below.)

Yes. Last year I had two gentlemen who hadn't played in 16 and 30+ years. They both broke 100 in a few weeks and are playing better now than they did when they were younger.

> Why do you say you are a "unique" Instructor?

I do not have the typical background for a golf instructor, and I think I relate better to the average golfer. Over 44+ years, I have found the least number of simple techniques to play good golf. Philosophy

... to change as little as possible, to improve a golfer's score as much as possible-- at a very low cost.

I will not-- tell you to change everything (grip, stance, swing plane, tempo, equipment, .....); nor tell you to practice dozens of drills all the time.

I will-- listen to your wishes and goals (just hit a drive straight; break 90, ?); work with what you already do well, including incorporating past similar experiences (baseball, tennis, cricket, ?); suggest one or two changes to get substantial improvement; simplify and prioritize your path to better golf (to save you time and more money); have fun (while you're improving; and, when you meet your goals, I will be as happy as you are).

More about Dave

> I am a retired engineer who caught the golf 'addiction' in my mid-20's. Despite being in Cornell University's Hall of Fame (football & baseball), and playing almost every other sport, golf was a different challenge. Over the last 44+ years, I have: played; practiced; taken lessons; and 'studied' golf literature, instruction, equipment and strategy. I have worked my way down to a 10 handicap, have shot in the 70's a number of times, and am still improving.

> For many years, I have given lessons to family and friends-- and the occasional 'new friend' on the course. I really love helping people get more enjoyment out of their golf, and I seem to have a knack for seeing one thing that quickly and easily makes a significant improvement. (I was also good at that when I coached sports and taught high school math.)

> About eight years ago, I tried to see if people would pay me to help them with their golf game-- and apparently I am good at it. Since the lessons are more of a hobby, I can offer them at very affordable rates.

Because of my personal competitiveness and engineering background, I have tried almost everything. Unlike someone who learned golf at a young age and quickly became accomplished, I have tried many techniques, equipment changes and strategies. I think I relate better to the average golfer who has had little (or no) instruction, lacks time (or desire) to practice, and has less-than-perfect habits ingrained into their muscle memory. I can save you years of the trial-and-error and practicing that I went through.
I have also developed my ideas of what is right, and 'not so' right, with conventional instruction. I have found some much simpler ways to just hit a golf ball, and have it go where you want it to. And I give you priorities-- what to work on first, and spend the most of your limited time on.
I have taught men, women and teenage boys and girls in industrial training programs, high school math classes, and sports coaching. They ranged from beginners to very experienced.
I have a relaxed serious attitude about golf-- it's a challenging sport, but it's not brain surgery, and it's meant to be fun.
